Johannesburg - Stanley Matthews has resigned from his post as the CEO of the PSL, only five months into his three-year tenure.
His resignation was confirmed by the PSL’s chairperson, Irvin Khoza, during a media briefing at the PSL headquarters in Parktown, Johannesburg, this afternoon.
Khoza revealed that COO Cambridge Nkonyane will be the acting CEO, on an interim basis, while a permanent successor is being identified.
Khoza said that Matthews had his reasons for leaving the organisation and the PSL’s EXCO respect his decision.
"As reported in the media that Stan Matthews will quit the PSL, I am hereby to announce that he Matthews approached me in April that he would want to go and work with Multi Choice and he wanted to leave the CEO for a better job and greener pastures.
“For the mean time we will have the COO, Cambridge Nkonyane, as the acting CEO. Matthews told me that he is happy to have worked with the biggest league in the African continent. We wish him all the best in his new endeavor at Multi Choice," Khoza concluded.
