Cape Town - CAF has announced its Top 10 shortlist for the African Player Of The Year based in Africa awards.
Two of the ten names belong to Orlando Pirates players, Filipe Ovono and Kermit Erasmus respectively, which is a clear indication of the club’s dominance of the 2015 CAF confederation Cup and how well the two players have stood out in the team,
“I can hardly believe it, especially with this being my first season with Orlando Pirates,” said Ovono on the club's website.
“I have been blessed with playing for one of the best clubs in the African continent and I am aware that I would not be in this position if it was not for my team-mates.
“This is an honour for my country, my team and I for me as well."
Meanwhile, Erasmus has said that he intends to take the nomination as motivation to work even harder.
“It’s a great honour, we leave it all on the field when we play for this badge and to be in the top ten shortlist is a great honour because it means that the work I’m putting in as a striker is recognised not only at club level but continentally as well.
“I obviously can’t allow it to go to my head because at the end of the day it’s just a nomination but I will take what I need from it which is motivation to work even harder."
