Cape Town - Thanda Royal Zulu will be no pushovers insists Mamelodi Sundowns striker Cuthbert Malajila.

The two sides will meet in the Nedbank Cup last 32 at Loftus Stadium, and even though Sundowns should have home ground advantage, many will remember the big scare that Thanda gave Orlando Pirates in the same competition last season.

Malajila and his team mates were back in full training after a one-day break following their return from their CAF Champions League clash in Seychelles where they were held 1-1.

The striker believes that underestimating any team in the Nedbank Cup would a crime and knows that Sundowns will have to remain focus.

“It has now become a norm that clubs from lower divisions play their socks off whenever pitted against PSL sides in the Nedbank Cup and we are expecting no less from Thanda Royal Zulu,” said Malajila on the Sundowns official website.

“The key is to treat the match with the importance and it deserves.”

The Zimbabwean hitman adds that the experience of playing against NFD sides during the mid-season will come in handy as the playing style is similar in the NFD.

“There is more man marking and hard running in the NFD which means we have to be on high alert the entire match.

“We were reminded of this in the friendly matches we played against NFD sides during the midseason break, and I believe that this will help us a lot when it comes to dealing with the match tempo.”

Malajila has been in red hot form for Sundowns in the league, netting seven goals and providing eight assists. He says he wishes to continue with the rich vein of form and hopes to do as well in the Nedbank Cup.

“The fact that I have provided more assists than goals for the team shows exactly the mentality of the team here at Chloorkop.

“We play as a team and anyone can score like everyone has seen in our past matches. As far as my own performance is concerned, I’m very glad to be doing well and I hope to continue like this even in the Nedbank Cup

The Brazilians and Thanda Royal Zulu match will be played on Saturday, February 18 and kick-off for the match is at 17:30.
