No pretty football in away games

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates goalkeeper coach, Williams Okpara, has praised his team for their defensive nous during away victory over AC Leopards in the Republic of Congo.

The legendary Nigerian goalkeeper told Sport24 that the game plan was to force Leopards to shoot from range and prevent any box entries.

“It was a tough one,” Okpara admitted.

“We made sure that our game plan was not to allow them to enter the 18 yard box.

Okpara also mentioned that it is necessary to adopt different tactical approaches in order to combat the difficulties of playing away in continental competitions.

“The boys did fantastically well although it was not the best of football.

“That field was not something we could even sit on, it was too hard and bumpy.

“We know in Africa you can’t leave it up to referee to decide it."
