According to Soccer Laduma, the former Platinum Stars goalkeeper admits that he is putting himself under no pressure since he set foot in Parktown.

“I’m not putting myself under any pressure,” said Mpontshane.

“I know I will have to work hard to convince the coach, I don’t need anyone to tell me that.

“Senzo did well for the club and achieved a lot but I will play the football that I know and work hard to help the team the best way I know how.”

The 28-year-old has not made made his debut for the Buccaneers as caretaker coach Eric Tinkler continues to start the in-form Brighton Mhlongo in goals.

Mhlongo has been entrusted with the number one jersey since the death of Senzo Meyiwa.

Pirates next game is against Polokwane City in a PSL encounter on Saturday, February 28.

Kick-off is at 19:00.
