Niang targets Ajax scalp

Johannesburg - New Mamelodi Sundowns man Mame Niang says the focus for his side is now firmly on the league match against Ajax Cape Town.

According to the Mamelodi Sundowns website, the towering striker who was voted man of the match in his debut believes that the draw against Maritzburg United was an unfortunate one as Sundowns did everything right only to be undone by a very unfortunate call from the referee.

“We should have won against Maritzburg but that’s all part of football and we cannot undo what what happened. But in our next match against Ajax, we can ensure that we seal things early and walk away with all three points”

“Of course we are all not happy with drawing our first match as defending champions but we really have to soldier on and look forward to the next challenge”

While admitting that Ajax won’t be easy either, Niang is confident that Bafana Ba style will bounce back and register a win.

“If we build on from our last performance and bury our chances this time around we should get a favourable result against Ajax in Cape Town”

“We all know that Ajax are a particular technical and difficult side to beat especially at home where the conditions favour their game plan but if we stick to our game plan the the match will open up for us to score goals”.
