Despite winning the Nedbank Cup this season, Niang endured a difficult first season at ‘Downs after moving from SuperSport United last year, scored a single goal in a mere five appearances.
The 31 year-old believes the competition for places in the team’s striking department made it harder to get a regular playing spot.
“This was my worst season in my 10 years playing professional football,” Niang told KickOff.
“I have never scored a single goal all season since I started playing football so this is why I am saying this ranks as my worst. I started five games, scored once, had one assist and won one man of the match.
“This past season just didn’t go well for me because I didn’t play as much as I would have wanted to.”
