Nhlapo: I want my job back

Cape Tow - Jonas Nhlapo is hoping to return to his refereeing job in the Premier Soccer League. Nhlapo was suspended by the PSL last year.

“Even if they can call me now and say I must go referee a match tonight, I’d definitely go because refereeing is my passion. I’m unemployed and starving now because my job was taken away from me. This was the only job that I relied on,” revealed Nhlapo.

According to Nhlapo, he’s still waiting to hear from the PSL litigation board about the next move in his case.

“I hope this whole thing will be sorted out as soon as possible. If they don’t get back to me by next Thursday, I will have to call them and find out how soon they can finalise their investigation.”

Nhlapho also says that Ace Ncobo’s resignation from the PSL, didn’t come as a surprise to him.

“I’m not surprised at all, Ace made his bed and he must just lie in it! He grew a python and now it is biting him. So I’m really not surprised by his resignation but I don’t want to talk too much about this, as the case is still continuing,” said Nhlapo.

I don't think Nhlapo must be brought back, his image is tarnished already. How sure are we that you're corruption free? Any small mistake you make in handling a game can easily bring doubt over your impartiality and fairness i the match.

You only have one chance Jonas, you messed it up. Go find yourself a job.

    A point of correction,pythons don't bite,Mr Nhlapo,they swallow.

nhlapo must first come out clean before he can be re-instated.

Bring him back. He deserves, like any comrade, a second chance. He has a good heart and lots of passion. Please, we need to show forgiveness.

"because my job was taken away from me"...Taken away by who? People who don't want caheting corrupt refs? So unfair

@Surprise. A point of correction on your point of correction, Pythons DO actually bite... I am happy to provide a field test of their rows of lovely sharp teeth on your unsuspecting hand if you insist... :-)

Seriously, he should get another chance. Just look at who suspended the poor guy. Who's version of events would you rather believe. It is a huge conspiracy. And seriously, no-one taught these guys the rights and wrongs of matters such as this during the apartheid-era. So tell me who/what is to be blamed, comrade Nhlapo or the system - the system off course.

I think its now time for all other refs to realise the dangers of cheating, and Nhlapo is unfortunately an example. Give him the last chance and a warning, and he must now be used to catch some more other crooks before any time can be wasted.
