Johannesburg - Mamelodi Sundowns coach Johan Neeskens has been given an ultimatum by the club’s management to either defeat Platinum Stars on October 6, at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, or face the exit door.
The management's decision comes after four loses in the team’s opening six league fixtures of the 2012/13 season. Currently in 14th place on the Absa Premiership table, the Chloorkop-based outfit has picked up four points out of a possible 18.
A high ranking source within the Sundowns camp revealed that the club has told the Dutch coach that the team must record a win against Dikwena, or it will be his final outing in charge of the Downs bench.
The source added that the win will need to be convincing for the coach to survive the axe.
"We all understand that this is the worst start to a season in as many years for Sundowns. We understand the supporters’ frustration though we don't condone what they did. So for that reason we have looked at it and given the coach an ultimatum to win convincingly against Platinum Stars and he will be safe, but if we lose, that will be his last game in charge," said our source.
When asked if Pitso Mosimane will be the coach tasked to take over from Neeskens, should he be shown the exit door, the source declined to comment.
