Ncikazi back Chiefs for MTN8

Cape Town - Maritzburg United coach Mandla Ncikazi has backed former boss Steve Khompela to lead Kaizer Chiefs to the MTN8 Cup crown.

Ncikazi was Komphela’s assistant last season at Maritzburg before taking over the reins at Amakhosi.

Chiefs will be looking to defend their title when they face Ajax Cape Town in the MTN8 final later this month after beating Bloemfontein Celtic in the semi-finals.

"I'm very excited for him [Khompela] and excited for the club and I believe he has massive passion as a coach," Ncikazi told KickOff.

"He's new at the club and new philosophy, and for him in his first three or four matches to get to the final, I'm very excited for him.

"I believe he's a very great coach, though he has changed the philosophy of playing which is kind of rattled a wee bit, but I think from my side he is on the right track."
