Ncikazi: Wits are a quality team

Cape Town - Maritzburg United head coach Mandla Ncikazi said that there won’t be any excuses coming from his team because both teams need points on the PSL league log ahead of tonight’s clash, August 26 against Bidvest Wits.

Ncikazi said they know they will be going into a battle and they will fight every step of the way when they take on The Clever Boys.

“Well let’s get this straight- It will be a tough match because both teams need the points and there are no excuses even though we can give out excuses,” he told Sport24.

“For now we are going into a battle and I know we will eventually get points on the log.

“I mean we have to remember what happened with Ajax and that amazed me how they were so dominating from the field and how they have all of a sudden become a strong team to contend with.

“I understand Roger’s philosophy and he always strengthens his defense side which is the lesson we learnt that we need to work on ourselves.

“I am trying to rectify why we were conceding goals to avoid losses."

He said Wits is a quality team with player like Henrico Botes and Daine Klate being a threat but says he won’t let that bother him because he has enough faith in his team to perform.

“Wits are a quality team; Henrico Botes and Daine Klate are a threat because these boys work on the field and they cause trouble especially Klate who can easily score four goals with the way he controls the ball and shoots across the field.

“I also believe in Pelembe who is another quality player and for me, Sibusiso Vilakazi is the best number ten in the country.

“We can’t complain because they can’t change their quality and standard of play and we just have to make sure that we work and push ourselves.

“I still have a lot of faith in my team and that will never change; win or lose,” he concluded.

The Team of Choice will meet Bidvest Wits at the Bidvest stadium later tonight, August 26.

Kick-off set for 19:30.
