Myeni geared for former team

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates winger Sifiso Myeni won't let emotion get the better of him when he faces his old team, Wits, on Tuesday night.

Pirates and the students will battle for three points in an Absa Premiership game at the Orlando Stadium.

“I practically grew up at Wits and I had lot of friends there; but now I can count only one or two of the players I played with, who are still there,” Myeni told Pirates’ official website.

“They have changed as a team and even the way they play has changed.

“They have a certain style of play which has not died completely so I hope to capitalise on my knowledge about them and try to help my team get the points tomorrow.”

The Buccaneers will be playing their first game since the departure of head coach Roger de Sa.

The 49-year-old tactician handed in his resignation letter to the club last Friday after months of ongoing pressure from the Pirates fans due to a poor run of results.

De Sa’s assistant coach, Eric Tinkler, will take over the reigns as a caretaker coach for the remainder of the season.

The two sides are currently separated by five points on the log, with the Clever Boys in fourth place and the Happy People occupying eighth spot.

Tuesday’s match will mark the return of the former Pirates goalkeeper, Moeneeb Josephs, to Orlando Stadium for the first time since re-joining the Clever Boys in July last year.

Kick-off for this cracker is scheduled for 19:30.
