Mweene's 'Downs deal done?

Johannesburg - Mamelodi Sundowns have reportedly completed a lucrative deal with Free State Stars for 2012 Africa Cup of Nations-winning goalkeeper, Kennedy Mweene.

According to the Football411 website, currently out on international duty with Zambia as they look to book their place at the 2014 Soccer World Cup, Mweene has recently been linked with a move to 'Downs from Ea Lla Koto for next season.

The Brazilians are believed to have forked out in the region of R6 million for the 28-year-old's services, which would see him join South Africa shot-stopper Wayne Sandilands, as well as Thela Ngobeni, Denis Onyango and Glenn Verbauwhede, on the books at Chloorkop.

When contacted for comment on Mweene's future, Stars general manager Rantsi Mokoena told the Sowetan: "I'm in China with the team. If there is a deal, it was done with the chairperson (Mike Mokoena).

"I'm aware there have been discussions with Sundowns regarding the transfer of Kennedy, who is in Zambia on national duty."

Steve Komphela's team are busy touring the Far East as part of their pre-season preparations for the 2013/14 campaign.
