Musona return in doubt

Johannesburg - Stuart Baxter has indicated that Kaizer Chiefs striker, Knowledge Musona, is still doubtful for tonight’s PSL clash with Mpumalanga Black Aces.

According to the Soccer-Laduma website, the Zimbabwean hasn’t played for Chiefs since limping off in the 2-0 win over AS Vita in the CAF Champions League late last month, and didn’t train with the club in their last two training sessions.

It was reported by the Siya crew earlier this week that the 23-year-old would undergo a late fitness test ahead of the game with AmaZayoni, something that has now been confirmed by his coach.

Speaking on Musona’s fitness, Baxter told Chiefs’ official website, "We are watching Musona until the last minute of selecting the final squad. Otherwise everybody is fit and looking forward to the game.”

Meanwhile, Baxter also explained that the team weren’t disheartened by the defeat to Sundowns, and are determined to bounce back against Aces.

He said, "We are throwing the gauntlet on this one. We will continue to work hard. How many points we take from he remaining games? We'll see. We are disappointed by the result but the performance of the lads was good against Sundowns, therefore we will improve on that going forward.

“The lads are showing the same determination they showed all through this tough season. Aces are a decent team and we will approach them with due respect like we always do with all our opponents.”

Chiefs host Aces at FNB Stadium tonight, with the game beginning at 19:30.
