Mushekwi off to Belgium?

Cape Town - Zimbabwe international Nyasha Mushekwi is on the wanted list of Belgian Jupiler Pro League side Cercle Brugge, according to the player’s agent.

Mushekwi is currently training with South African top-flight club Mamelodi Sundowns as he attempts to regain his fitness after suffering cruciate ligament damage in February during a season-loan spell at another Belgium team, KV Oostende.

His contract with Sundowns runs until June 2015, but according to the striker’s agent, Ralph Nkomo, Mushekwi could find himself back in Europe in a couple of month’s time.

"He has to start playing in January without fail," Nkomo was reported as saying by the Bulawayo News.

"The chances are very good that he can permanently join Cercle Brugge. Next week we will start talking to Sundowns regarding that possibility.

"We want to avoid complications as much as possible because we could have sealed a permanent move to Oostende last January but nothing concrete came up.

"There is also another club that is keen on him but we cannot name it at the moment. That club wants to sell one of their strikers and that is why they prefer to be anonymous at the moment. The striker is not even half of Mushekwi's capabilities," Nkomo concluded.
