Mtshali resurfaces at Celtic

Cape Town - Former Free State Stars goalkeeper, Ayanda Mtshali, has resurfaced at Bloemfontein Celtic since departing Ea Lla Koto in March.

Mtshali was among the Celtic squad that lost 1-2 to the Lesotho King’s XI selection on Saturday in a match that formed part of the Mountain Kingdom’s King Letsie III 52nd birthday celebrations.

Vuyani Ntanga, who captained the squad, scored from the penalty spot and with assistant coach, Lehlohonolo Seema, the one calling the shots.

The squad also included recently signed Thabang Matuka as well as Mothokozisi Dube and Helder Pelembe, who joined from Orlando Pirates on a permanent and loan deal respectively.

Sport24 has been told that no decision has been taken as yet on Mtshali and the club coaches are still assessing him.

“Yes he is here with us and travelled with squad to Lesotho over the weekend, but no decision has yet to be taken on him,” said the source.

“Maybe the team will take him because they only have two goalkeepers at the moment in Patrick Tignyemn as the first choice while Bongani Mpandle has been the second choice goalkeeper.”

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
