The 27-year-old opened his account in the first half before adding a brace of goals to his tally after the half-time break.
Mthembu has certainly bolstered his chances of claiming a regular starting berth following his man-of-the-match performance against Edu Sports on Saturday, but insists he is not resting on laurels.
"From here onwards, I hope to continue improving, score more goals and help the team win," Mthembu told the club's official website.
Reflecting on Chiefs' performance and the goals, he added: "It was all worked out at practice and, above all, through extra training.
"The coach instructed us to work on our heading at goal. He worked with us to perfect the set-pieces. I am glad it all worked out."
