According to KickOff, Mpontshane says that any player would love to ply their trade for a club with Pirates status.

“Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are the teams that many players would love to play for and every player would actually want to be involved in the derby,” said Mpontshane.

“Every kid growing up wishing to play for a big team and Pirates is such a big team and this is my turn to play for a big team and progress in my career.”

The shot-stopper adds that there is no need to inform him on what is expected from him at the Sea Robbers.

“I will not put myself under pressure but play my normal football knowing that I have to work really hard. The experience that I gained in winning two cups in one season will come in handy.”

Mpontshane is likely to get his taste of first team football against AmaZulu on Wednesday, February 11 when the PSL resumes.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
