Motsepe wants to empower players

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns President, Patrice Motsepe, says that as the head of Motsepe Foundation wants to help empower footballers whether local or internationals.

He told Sport24 that this is the reason they sponsored the SAFA ABC Motsepe league where the winner gets R1m which is far higher than the prize money for winning the NFD.

Motsepe said that by empowering the teams they are empowering communities where those teams come from.

"It's not just about the money that the team wins but it's about empowering the footballers in the country and even in Africa.

“You know the boundaries that we have in Africa is just artificial marks which could have separated our relatives from us so we think of Africa as just one home and we have to empower the players as much as we can.

“It's important to empower the players at all levels," Motsepe concluded.
