According to Soccer Laduma, Motaung admits that winning is all that Komphela needs to do within his job mandate.

"His mandate is to continue the Chiefs legacy. That is winning, it is the only mandate he has got," said Motaung.

"We all want to win and Steve has been there and he knows how important winning is to Kaizer Chiefs. We don’t have much to ask from him, but for him to continue the legacy which he knows.

"He has been with the national Under 20 and Under 23 teams and he knows winning is everything, and that’s why our mandate to him is to keep winning - and continue the legacy."

Sport24 reported that Chiefs confirmed the appointment of Komphela as their mentor.

The former Bafana Bafana captain fills the void left by Stuart Baxter, who opted to resign from his post.

Komphela penned a three-year contract with Chiefs.
