Cape Town - Orlando Pirates legend Edward Motale said that he was impressed with the way the Buccaneers played against Chippa United.
The retired defender admits that it was a do or die situation for Pirates and they needed to make a comeback especially for the supporters.
“I think last night’s match was a do or die for Pirates. They had to win that game, if they didn’t the supporters would have not been happy,” Motale told Sport24.
“All eyes were on Pirates last night especially after losing the past few matches.
“Immediately after being one man down, no one thought they would come back because it’s not easy for a team. I must say that the boys really showed a lot of character.
“After they scored the second goal, Chippa’s boys were everywhere but Pirates kept on showing themselves like before. Makola and the goalkeeper really stood out for me last night.
“These boys were really in good form and were showing what football was made of. Makola was on fire, he really out Pirates back on the map after the bad spells they have had.
“He was a character on the field last night and I really loved the way he played. But nonetheless I must give credit where it’s due to Chippa because they really made Pirates work.
“Those boys are very good and they play as a unit."
The Buccaneers won 4-1 against Chippa United at the Orlando Stadium in a PSL clash.
Meanwhile, Pirates shift their focus to the CAF Confederation Cup with a fixture agaianst AC Leopards on Saturday, August 22.
Kick-off is at 18:00.
