Mosimane missed key players

Cape Town - Following their defeat to Orlando Pirates on Tuesday night, Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane said they missed key players due to injuries and suspensions.

The Brazilians suffered a 1-0 defeat to Pirates in an ABSA Premiership encounter played at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria, courtesy of a Khethowakhe Masuku strike.

In a televised post-match interview, “Jingles” emphasised that had those missing men featured in the game, the match could have turned out differently.

Sundowns had to battle against the former treble winners without the services of Katlego Mashego, Khama Billiat, Cuthbert Malajila and versatile skipper Alje Schut.

“It is a very sad thing that we didn't have all our players,” said Mosimane.

“The Khama issue has cost us. We don't have another Khama; we don't have other players like him.

"When Mashego plays, when Schut plays, when Billiat plays we are a different team.

“We really missed Alje and his leadership skills, Khama, Cuthbert and Mashego,” he added.

Sundowns remain in second spot on the log table, trailing the leaders Kaizer Chiefs by nine points with one game in hand.

Their next Premiership instalment will be away to Wits at the Bidvest Stadium on Saturday evening.

Kick-off is scheduled for 18:00.
