Morton focused on results

Cape Town - SuperSport United midfielder Michael Morton thinks that the aspirations of the team far outweigh any personal achievements this season.

Morton, who was recognised as the man of the match during his side's win over the University of Pretoria last weekend, appreciates the recognition but has also highlighted the fact that the club accumulated another three points, which could be telling as it continues with its quest to be crowned league champions at the end of the season.

"I’m happy about the award.

"This is a big motivation to me but most of all I would like to congratulate my team-mates on the victory," Morton told the club’s website this week.

SuperSport United have now won three consecutive matches in the Premiership and have moved up to the seventh position in the league standings.

While Morton is proud of the contribution he has made to that cause, he does think that every single player in Gordon Igesund’s squad deserves credit for that.

"This is all in the name of teamwork and we are looking forward to some more positive results going forward," said Morton.

The next assignment for the three-time Premiership champions is a home match against an equally impressive Maritzburg United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday night.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
