Moriri is a living legend - Mahachi

Johannesburg - Kudakwashe”Kuda” Mahachi says he still can’t believe that he is playing alongside his hero Surprise Moriri in the same team.

“Am I really playing in the same team as Surprise Moriri?” Mahachi told Mamelodi Sundowns' official website.

“The man that used to keep me glued to my screen in awe of his technique. That’s still hard for me to believe because the man is a living legend and a world class player in terms of ability.

“I have always followed Sundowns from back home in Zimbabwe and back there Surprise is the midfielder most youngsters who watch the PSL want to model their technique around.”

Mahachi, who has taken to fish like water at his new club, also cleared the air around reports that linked him to other PSL clubs after the CHAN Tournament.

“I didn’t feel like a new player at all when I joined my new team-mates during pre-season because I knew most of the players and they knew me as well from my time on trial with the team, way before the CHAN Tournament.

“I went to that tournament with added motivation because I knew that I was a Sundowns player already and all I had to do is give a good account of myself.

“There was absolutely no team I would have joined apart from Sundowns. There are players from Zimbabwe here like Esrom, Khama, Cuthbert and others which makes adapting even easier for me.”

Mahachi played his full debut against AmaZulu at the weekend and won over the fans with a classy display. He scored a goal coming on as a substitute against Moroka Swallows before that.
