Johannesburg - A car accident in 2009 has come back to haunt former Bafana and Golden Arrows defender Bryce Moon after the state decided to reinstate charges against him, according to The Times report.
Moon, is expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court on Tuesday on a charge of murder, an alternative charge of culpable homicide, and charges of reckless and negligent driving and drunk driving.
The charges arise from a car crash in the early hours of June 30 2009 in Sandton, Johannesburg, when the soccer star failed to negotiate a curve in Sandhurst and careened into 25-year-old Sandton domestic worker Mavis Ncube, who died in hospital.
The accident took place at about 06:00 and Moon was reported to have been driving back from a Bafana party to mark the end of Confederations Cup.
The state alleges that Moon was drunk at the time, but the soccer star earlier denied that he was under the influence of alcohol, saying he drank only two beers at the party.
Charges against him were dropped at the Randburg Magistrate's Court in April last year.
The state at the time said investigations were incomplete and that Moon's blood alcohol test results, taken at the time of the crash, were outstanding.
