Cape Town - University of Pretoria captain Tebogo Monyai has supported the move of Steve Barker heading to Durban to coach AmaZulu.

Sport24 reported AmaZulu have appointed Steve Barker as their new head coach with immediate effect to help the club stabilise their 2014/15 Absa Premiership season.

The club could only confirm his appointment after Barker had met with his past employers on Sunday evening to formalise his departure.

According to africanfootball.com website, Monyai believes that his departure comes as no surprise and he predicts the 46-year-old to prove his worth in Durban.

“For me it is not a surprise, it has been for two weeks about him going to AmaZulu,” said Monyai.

“I think it is good for him financially wise and he will be able to gain some experience and prove he is a good coach.”

AmaZulu are currently placed 16th on the log having collected just 4 points in 11 matches.

Ironically Usuthu’s next game is against University of Pretoria on Tuesday, December 2.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
