Johannesburg - Former Bafana Bafana skipper Aaron Mokoena says he is happy with his decision to join Wits, following a successful overseas stint, during which he became the country's highest capped international.
Mokoena left Portsmouth at the end last season and signed for the Clever Boys after receiving several attractive offers from South African clubs, according to the defender.
"Coming back, I made a lot of contact with a lot of clubs but I wanted to come back (to South Africa) and enjoy myself," Mokoena said on Wednesday.
"Wits has a structure that I think I will fit in with.
"I looked at Wits and I had fantastic meetings with the management and I thought, 'this is where I want to be'. I am enjoying myself."
The 31-year-old enjoyed four successful years with Premier League outfit Blackburn Rovers in England, before moving to Pompey in 2009, while captaining Bafana during the 2010 FIFA World Cup in SA.
Mokoena said he was enjoying his role at the club and looked forward to the rest of the season as he would be working closely with some of the youngsters in the squad, bringing his valuable experience to training and matches.
"I see myself playing a role at Wits," he said.
"I had a couple of meetings with the CEO and he sees me as kind of an ambassador for the club.
"Right now it's all about really playing my football and making sure that I help the club and that I contribute to the club's ambitions.
"The future will tell. We have a fantastic league over here."
Turning his attention to the national side, Mokoena - who has earned 104 caps for Bafana - was confident they would do well at next year's Africa Cup of Nations, set to be hosted in SA.
"I hope we will do very well," Mokoena said.
"We've got to understand that we've got to give the boys the support they need, so that the country can do well.
"It's not about the 25 players that are selected, it's about us as a country and we have to understand that we have a new manager now.
"He (coach Gordon Igesund) needs our support and I am hopeful that they can make the country proud."
