Middendorp remains optimistic

Cape Town - Chippa United coach Ernst Middendorp still believes that his current squad has the capacity to produce meaningful results, despite dropping more points in the Premiership when they played to a 1-1 draw against AmaZulu at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Chippa still occupy the 11th position in the league standings after last night’s fixture but they have not won a match since last November and there is actually very little indication that the status quo will change in the foreseeable future.

Middendorp is a little more optimistic though.

“Of course disappointment again, just 1-1 in this home game, but on the other side I believe in these players,” said Middendorp after the draw.

It is perhaps worth noting that AmaZulu’s Bongi Ntuli was sent off in the fourth minute of the match against Chippa, who competed with a numerical advantage for about 86 minutes on Friday.

The home team’s failure to create and exploit opportunities was most apparent during this match and Middendorp is well aware of it.

However, he still sees potential and he has every intention of exposing that potential in coming weeks.

“I believe in this team, they have the quality.

“We definitely will move on and we definitely will get our possibilities in the remaining seven games,” said Middendorp.
