Meyiwa focused on the football

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa is anticipating a tough encounter against Ajax Cape Town on Saturday, but has played down the potential impact of Roger de Sa's return to Soweto.

The two PSL sides will lock horns in the Telkom Knockout quarter-finals this weekend in a game which will see Urban Warriors coach De Sa return to the Orlando Stadium for the first time since departing at the end of last term.

And, while that provides a thrilling backdrop to the encounter, Buccaneers keeper Meyiwa is preferring to focus on the football.

“We have to win this match - there is no coming back in Cup matches,” he told Pirates' official website.

“It is a match we have to try our best to win, even though we know it will be very difficult.”

Regarding the reunion with former tactician De Sa, the shot stopper added: Coach Roger (de Sa) was here and we used to plan together for matches; now he is on the other side and that will be tough.

“But in football coaches don’t play - Roger will not play on the day, so, as much as they will come here with a plan, we will also plan against them because we know how the coach likes to play in certain phases of the game.

“It will be a very nice match and I’m hoping to be at my best because we can’t lose at home.”
