Mbesuma a happy camper at Aces

Mbombela - Following his tremendous start to the 2015/16 Absa Premiership season, Mpumalanga Black Aces striker Collins Mbesuma said he has now settled at AmaZayoni and he is enjoying his football at the Mbombela based outfit.

The Zambian international is enjoying his rich vein of form as he currently tops the leading goal scorers list with 5 goals in five appearances.

'Ntofontofo' believes that his team-mates now understands each other style of play and their combination has hit the ground early in the season which is why he is capitalising from their ball supplies.

“It has been a great season for me so far and am scoring goals and enjoying my football,” Mbesuma said.

“I think it’s because I have been with the team since last season. So I believe that we now understand each other very well and it’s working for the team.

“We are combining well which is why I am scoring goals for the team but the goals only come when the team is playing well. At the end of the day it’s not only about me scoring goals but it’s all about the whole team.

“And I believe that the rest of the team deserves some credit as well for their hard work.”

Mbesuma currently holds the PSL record of scoring the most number of goals in the season, a magnificent achievement which dates back to the 2004/05 season in the colours of Kaizer Chiefs when he scored 35 goals in all competitions to break Fani Madiba [also of Chiefs’] record of 34 goals.

But the veteran forward said thathe is not yet setting his sights on the Lesley Manyathela golden boot because they still have a primary mandate, of finishing in the top 3 position at the end of the season, which they must achieve as a team.

“At the moment I am not setting my sights on the golden boot. I believe that it’s still early days and our main ambition as a team is to continue working hard.

“And as a team we really want to see ourselves finishing inside the top 3 position on the log at the end of the season. Then I will worry about the rest later.”
