The South African football fraternity was in shock when Bafana Bafana head coach Shakes Mashaba named Zulu in the squad that did duty in the recent African Cup of Nations qualifiers a few weeks ago.
The 28-year-old striker silenced his detractors with an impressive solo effort against Orlando Pirates that had fans who packed the Nelson Mandela Stadium cheer in admiration on Saturday, September 27.
He has been recalled for Bafana's battle in order to get a place in Morocco 2015, and Mbenyane is confident there is still more to come from Zulu.
"I'm happy for him you know, the guy is always working hard in training and there's a lot to come from him," the Chilli Boyz skipper said.
"I wish he gets regular call-ups but we need to support him in terms of working hard to ensure he keeps scoring goals and help us and Bafana."
The Chilli Boys are in action on Saturday, October 4 in a Telkom Knockout encounter. They face Platinum Stars at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
Kick-off is at 15:00.
