Cape Town - Mark Mayambela says Chippa United showed character in their PSL encounter against Chiefs.
Mayambela, who played for Swedish team Djurgardens in the 2014 season, says that the match against Chiefs was motivating and is glad that Chippa kept their character on the field despite receiving a red card.
United and Amakhosi played to a 0-0 draw at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium and the left-winger said that he hopes Chippa will keep in character and improve as the PSL season progresses.
“We did really well against Chiefs in my opinion even though we were one man short, we still showed up, and showed a lot of courage as team," Mayambela told Sport24.
“We just hope to achieve a lot more this season as long as we keep in character.
“I think after we got the red card, no one thought we would come back from that because it’s not easy for a team when a red card is shown you know.
“Chiefs’ also didn’t think we would come back and thought it would be an easy deal for them for the rest of the match.
“We never gave up, we just had to carry on. We managed to contain them even though they tried to cause us a bit of trouble,” Mayambela concluded.
