Mathoho to miss Pirates clash

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs fans will have their coaching acumen tested, due to the recent announcement that defender Erick Mathoho will not be eligible for the Carling Black Label Cup match on August 1.

Mathoho, who had surgery at the end of last season was ruled out of the prestigious Carling Black Label derby clash against Orlando Pirates, following the results of his recent fitness test at the club.

With Tefu Mashamaite having left the club and Morgan Gould still in rehabilitation from his injury, it means Kaizer Chiefs supporters will need to use all their coaching knowledge to pick the right backline for the clash.

Other options for the Amakhosi fans include: Uganda international Ivan Bukenya, young rising star Lourenzo Gordinho and possibly a move for Siboniso Gaxa from right-back to the centre.

“This situation depicts what real coaching is all about, deciding the best course of action to take when your first-choice selections are not available and it will be a true test of character and skill for the Kaizer Chiefs Champion Coaches,” say Carling Black Label General Manager, Vijay Govidsamy.
