Mathoho returns to training

Cape Town – Kaizer Chiefs confirmed that Eric Mathoho has returned to training as he fights to regain his fitness.

According to the club’s official website, the defender underwent surgery to his toe during the off-season.

“Eric Mathoho has started training with the team,” said Chiefs’ Medical Team report.

“He still needs time to regain his match fitness but, should be ready to play at the start of the season next week.”

Meanwhile, Morgan Gould is also progressing well and training hard. Gould is well on track to return to action in September.

“Simphiwe Mtsweni has undergone surgery to his foot last Friday,” continued the medical report.

Mtsweni is expected to be out for six weeks. Mtsweni’s injury has resulted in a delay to his loan move as was earlier announced.

Daniel Cardoso has started running on the treadmill and is expected back in action in September. Cardoso arrived from Free State Stars this season nursing an injury.

Lucky Baloyi was injured in one of the preseason training matches. Baloyi has started running and will be back in three weeks’ time.

Mathoho, Gould, Mtsweni, Cardoso and Baloyi were not included in the list of the players that were selected to take part in the Carling Black Label Cup this weekend.
