Mashego: We must be humble

Cape Town - Free State Stars utility man Katlego Mashego has warned against complacency after showing position signs of form towards the end of last season.

Ea Lla Koto last season shrugged off relegation following a five wins out of the final six games in the league to finish ninth.

"This pre-season we've been working on our mistakes and I'm confident that we are going to start well, but we need to humble ourselves," Mashego told KickOff.

"We can't go into the new season thinking that we played well in the last six games [last season] and think it's gonna be easy."

Despite interest from champions Kaizer Chiefs, Mashego has committed his future to Stars.

"Loyalty is important. It is important to stay in one team. I think if you are a player and every season you are changing clubs you would end up not being consistent with your play."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
