According to KickOff, the Ajax Cape Town coach said that players based in the Mother City do not get seen as enough and he has “spoken to the national team coaches”.

Mashaba reveals that he had sat in meetings with Ajax CEO, Ari Efstathiou, along with the former Orlando Pirates coach.

“I want coach Roger to come forth and say, ‘Yeah, I’m here. You don’t select Cape Town players,” said Mashaba.

“When I went to Cape Town he [De Sa] was in that meeting. We were two and he was with the director. I tried, I spoke to them and said, ‘Make the players available’ and they said the players can’t leave.

“I was shocked to see that article. You are making me look bad. We had a couple of players [from Ajax] that we selected for the Under-20, Under-23 and senior national teams. I want him to come out clear and say why he is saying that.”

Meanwhile, the Royal Bafokeng Stadium will play host to the COSAFA Cup Plate section with Bafana and Malawi set to clash at 19:30 on Wednesday, May 27.

Bafana were knocked out of the Cup section by Botswana while Malawi lost to Mozambique.
