Cape Town - Mamelodi
Sundowns midfielder Mzikayise Mashaba believes the side are primed for success
as they gear up for this weekend's CAF Champions League clash against TP
curbed CPT hoodoo
The Brazilians travel to Congo on Sunday with a slender 1-0
lead after seeing off a 10-man Ravens side in the first leg of their round-one
encounter at Loftus Versfeld a fortnight ago.
And although the side have not played a competitive match
since mid-March, Mashaba believes their preparations during the recent FIFA
international break have left Sundowns in top shape ahead of the crunch
encounter in central Africa.
"I think we prepared really well and we are braced for
whatever will be thrown our way," he told Football411.
"We used this international break wisely to work on
what we believed were our weaknesses in the first leg and we are now ready for
"We know it will not be easy but we are confident that
we will come back with a positive result.
"The coach and technical team have used every form of advice
you'd think of so we are more than ready."
Orlando Pirates underwent the same trip to Lubumbashi on
their way to the CAF Champions League final two years ago, but 25-year-old
Mashaba saw no need to contact some of the Buccaneers players for any added
"Personally I haven't made any contact with the Pirates
players because I see no need in contacting Pirates players for other tips on
stopping Mazembe, the only information we have on Mazembe is through watching
their recent videos."
