Marques makes Soweto return

Cape Town – Moroka Swallows general manager Sipho Xulu believes that Zeca Marques knowledge of the club will not help entirely as Black Leopards travel to Dobsonville Stadium.

The promotion/relegation playoffs continue on Wednesday, May 20 as Swallows welcome Leopards to Soweto, led by ex-coach Zeca Marques.

Marques returns to Soweto for the first time since he resigned from the Dube Birds in October last year following a string of poor results.

The coach has an intimate knowledge of his previous club's playing staff and style of play, but Xulu does not believe it will have any bearing on the fixture.

"When we play against Marques and his team, for us it will be like playing against any other coach," Xulu told Soccer Laduma.

"Both teams have a 50/50 chance of winning the game, however since this will be our home game we will utilise our home ground advantage.

"In football systems change and Zeca may think he knows us but that information is based on what he knows, things have changed since he’s left so his knowledge will not have a bearing," he concluded.

Leopards defeated fellow National First Division side Jomo Cosmos 2-0 on Sunday in the opening game of the promotion/relegation playoffs to top the table, but will likely face a much tougher game from Swallows.
