Maritzburg close in on Munthali

Cape Town - Power Dynamos have confirmed defender Christopher Munthali is in 'advanced talks' with Maritzburg United over a potential move to South Africa's Premiership.

The Team of Choice have spent the last week in discussions with their FAZ Super League counterparts over a deal for the centre-back, who impressed with the Zambia national team during their run to the 2015 COSAFA Cup quarter-finals.

"Talks have advanced with Maritzburg United over Munthali, we hope by the end of the week we shall close the deal," said Dynamos club secretary Ricky Mamfunda.

The move could be viewed as a bit of a coup for Maritzburg, with reports claiming reigning Premiership champions Kaizer Chiefs had also recently made inquiries over the defender's availability.

And, should a deal materialise, Munthali could kick off his United career against AmaKhosi, with the PSL rivals set to square off in the quarter-finals of the MTN8 in the new season.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
