Manyisa to go under the knife

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates confirmed Oupa Manyisa is scheduled for an ankle surgery after being stretchered off against Polokwane City.

‘Ace’ sustained the injury in Pirates’ goalless draw against Polokwane City at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in a Absa Premiership fixture on Tuesday, September 22.

The club captain will now miss Pirates CAF Confederations Cup clash against Al Ahly on Saturday, September 26.

According to Orlando Pirates official website, Manyisa was taken to hospital where it was revealed that the Bafana Bafana midfielder suffered an ankle fracture.

Club doctor Dr Lazarus Maphakela says Manyisa will see a specialist upon the teams return from Polokwane.

“Clinical examination revealed swelling and limited range of movement of the left ankle,” said Maphakela.

“Oupa was stabilised and referred to Mediclinic for further management. X-ray revealed distal fracture of left fibula (fracture above left ankle).

“He will see a specialist in Johannesburg and is expected to undergo surgery to rectify the injury before the end of the week.”
