Manyisa: Title race a sprint

Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates midfielder Oupa Manyisa says the title race is no longer a marathon but a sprint with nine games left.

The Bucceneers, who currently hold every domestic crown, trail leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by four points, with the PSL titans drawing 0-0 in midweek.

And Manyisa rates his team's prospects despite further competition from the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and Moroka Swallows.

"We all know that the league is a marathon but at this stage we are going to treat it like a sprint because the league race is still open," he told his club's official website.

"Obviously, we would have liked to have collected three points against Sundowns but that was always going to be a difficult task, seeing that we had just come from an energy draining derby against Chiefs a few days earlier.

"A draw away to Sundowns isn't a bad result. We are still within touching distance and I believe if we can apply ourselves in these remaining matches, we can defend our title. We will take it one game at a time and see how it goes," concluded the rising Bafana Bafana star.

Chiefs are a point behind the Sea Robbers and Swallows, but with a game in hand.
