Manqele tipped to shine for Chiefs

Cape Town - Former Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Gert Schalkwyk thinks Saturday's Soweto derby will provide the ideal opportunity Edward Manqele to become a hero.

Manqele has made three appearances for Chiefs this season and has breached opposition defences once during that period.

However, he has never played in a fixture of this magnitude, and Schalkwyk thinks that will be incentive enough to shine this weekend, especially when playing in front of the home fans.

"I think Edward will score," Schalkwyk told Goal website.

"He must just be patient in front of goal because he rushes too much and puts too much pressure on himself. I think he will do well in the derby."

In addition, the former Chiefs midfielder thinks Amakhosi will triumph this weekend, partly because they have the momentum but primarily because Chiefs is where his heart lies.

"I am a Chiefs fan my friend! So, Chiefs is obviously going to win," said Schalkwyk.

Kick-off is at 15:30 on Saturday, October 31.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
