Cape Town - Striker Edward Manqele is set to join Chippa United after his contract was cancelled by Mamelodi Sundowns after a protracted battle.

Manqele has been looking to leave the Brazilians for some time, with a proposed switch to Chippa earlier in the year blocked by Sundowns. The 27-year-old was later told not to train at the club, with the forward then taking the club to the Premier Soccer League's Dispute Resolution Committee.
Earlier this week it was reported that Manqele had rejected the offer of a settlement, but the two parties have now agreed that his contract will be terminated, freeing him to join the Chilli Boys.
"Yes, it’s true, we came to an agreement, and Sundowns terminated his contract," Mphono told Soccer Laduma.
"He will be joining Chippa United on a two year deal, and will begin training with the club on Monday.
"We are sure that once he reaches full fitness, he will once again prove that he is a quality striker in the PSL.
"I’d like to thank Chippa Mpengesi for all he has done. We chose Chippa United because of the support from Mr Mpengesi, who remained interested in the player from the very beginning."
