Manqele is a Chilli Boy

Cape Town – After pushing for weeks to get out of Chloorkop, Edward Manqele’s wishes have finally been granted.

There had been much speculation about Manqele, but yesterday Mamelodi Sundowns confirmed that along with Thami Sangweni the players would be joining the Chilli Boys on a season-long loan deal.

Both players had been on loan over the past season – Manqele with Moroka Swallows where he scored some crucial goals and Sangweni at Ajax Cape Town.

The two players join a raft of players signed by Chippa, who have made a return to the PSL after spending the last season in the NFD.

The Port Elizabeth side is also negotiating for the services of Doctor Mampuru, but this deal has not been finalised.

Chippa United will take on Platinum Stars in their opening PSL encounter at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Can Chippa United avoid relegation this time around after hefty amount of signing?

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
