Maluleka ready to tame Ajax

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka insists that he will not be doing his former team Ajax Cape Town any favours when the two sides clash on Sunday.

Maluleka spent three seasons at the Urban Warriors before making a move to SuperSport United and then finally completing a move to the Amakhosi in January 2014.

“Obviously there are going to be some mixed emotions when I face my old club” the midfielder told Sport24, in an exclusive interview, on Friday.

Maluleka is ready to put his emotions to the side when the table toppers visit Ajax Cape Town.

“The most important thing is to not get ahead of myself and to get the result on the field.” said Maluleka.

“I’m at Kaizer Chiefs now and I am going to give it my all for them”.

Maluleka is honoured to play for the Glamour Boys and conitnues to work hard on his game to ensure he remains part of the setup at the Naturena.

“It’s an amazing feeling to play for Kaizer Chiefs, one of Africa’s biggest teams.

“The team is playing well at the moment and I’m grateful to be a part of it”.

Maluleka warned Chiefs’ rivals that the league leaders will not be complacent going forward with the Soweto giants focused on each and every game.

The team’s unbeaten start to their PSL campaign as well as MTN8 success is driving all the players in the squad to ensure they continue to deliver the types of performances that are required at Chiefs.

Maluleka is confident that the current competition for places in the squad is healthy for Chiefs and all the players in the starting eleven are wary of those keen to take their spot.

“It’s a team effort and we all push ourselves to play better in training and during games.

“When we get onto the field we all play as one and that’s very important to us at Chiefs.” said the 25-year-old midfielder.

The Urban Warriors have the difficult task of taking on the high-flying Kaizer Chiefs at Cape Town Stadium on Sunday, October 19.

Kick-off is at 15:30.
