Malajila still main man for Sundowns

Cape Town - Phil Masinga is adamant Cuthbert Malatjila remains the main man for Mamelodi Sundowns in attack.

Malajila looked to have lost his place as the first choice striker to new acquisition Fiston Abdul Razak, but the Zimbabwean made use of the injury to the Burundi by reminding Sundowns coach, Pitso Mosimane of his goal scoring abilities.

“I think he reminded his coach of his abilities and I’m sure he will have a successful season because he works hard and is always looking for goals,” Masinga told Sport24.

“Injuries disturbed his season this previous campaign, but whenever he is fit, I’m sure he will add value into the team and get those goals.

Masinga said Sundowns made a statement in the win over Bidvest Wits, but will have to be consistent to be favourites in the race for the championship.

“Its too early to say who will be the best players or best team, but Sundowns will have to be consistent to be among the best team in the league,” he said.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
