Malajila out injured, Teko set for return

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns have released an update on players returning from injury and those nursing knocks.

Cuthbert Malajila is definitely out of their Telkom Knockout encounter against Free State Stars after picking up an injury in Sundowns 2-0 win over Chippa United.

However, Teko Modise could be set to return to the line-up after missing their last two matches.

“Only Malajila is definitely out, still nursing the injury he sustained against Chippa,” said Sundowns website.

“Mogakolodi Ngele showed he is getting into the swing and rhythm of Mamelodi Sundowns in his substitute appearance against Celtic, while Soumahoro Bangaly had a confidence-building substitute appearance in defence against Celtic, making some solid saves and clearances.

“Both Teko Modise (on the bench on Wednesday) and Fiston Abdoul Razak will also be chomping at the bit, hoping for a run on Sunday, but the key to Sunday’s game will be goals – and both sides will know that this is what will determine the outcome.”

Sundowns are on a three-match winning streak, or four in all competitions, having recorded victories over Ajax, Jomo Cosmos and Bloemfontein Celtic in the league in recent weeks.

The Brazilians have also won their last five fixtures against Free State Stars, scoring two goals in each of those victories, which will make them confident when the two sides clash.

Kick-off is at 15:00 on Sunday, October 25.
