Cape Town - Orlando Pirates fitness coach Japhet Borges reveals that Mpho Makola’s fitness level is “unbelievable”.

Speaking to the clubs official website, Borges used the opportunity to test the fitness levels of the Buccaneer players.

The first team has been put through their paces ever since their last competitive match against Tornado FC last week, which they won 4-0.

“Jomo (Thabo Rakhale) came back from the December break at a level of 12.6 and today he got to level 14.7 so that was a massive increase from him,” said Borges.

Borges also reveals that Patrick Phungwayo has done well since returning from injury.

“Patrick Phungwayo, who has been out for such a long time with he managed to get up to level 13.2 and that is excellent considering the long lay-off he had with injury.”

However, the fitness coach admits that Mpho Makola is one of the fittest players and says that the midfielder has been working really hard.

“Mpho Makola’s fitness levels are just unbelievable,” said Borges.

“He has been working really well during the midseason break, he already came back in January almost reaching level 14 and today he actually went to level 15 so it really shows you that the hard work they are putting in really works.”
