Makola: We missed too many chances

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates midfielder, Mpho Makola, says that the Buccaneers should never have lost their CAF Confederation Cup game against Zamalek with the amount of chances that they had.

Makola came on in the second half after Pirates had already taken their foot off the pedal and he believes that the game should really have been wrapped up by then.

“The guys played well in the first half, I think we created a lot of chances which we could have buried,” Makola told Sport24.

“But you know football, it has got a funny way of turning around on you.

“After we scored we took our foot off the pedal and they scored two great goals.

“I could say it was a bit harsh, we just have to work a bit harder now.

“We really are confident of going through, we’ve got a good solid team,” he concluded.

Makola recently extended his deal at the Soweto Giants for another three-years alongside Oupa Manyisa.

The news will surely give the rest of the squad confidence going into their next Confed Cup game away to Tunisian club CS Sfaxien on July 25.
