Magqwaka case set for January

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana defender Ayabulela Magqwaka and Ajax Cape Town will only settle their dispute in front of the PSL DRC in January next year.

MUST READ: Magqwaka has 'discipline issues'

Sport24 reported last month that Magqwaka made an official complaint to the PSL DRC against Ajax with the reasoning that he is receiving endless abuse and heavy-handedness.

Magqwaka wants to secure his release from the Urban Warriors and the saga was due to be settled last week but the Disciplinary Committee did not see the case as a matter of urgency.

According to KickOff, Johannesburg sports attorney Thoe Mapheta states that Ajax are ruining the player’s chances of getting a Bafana call-up for the upcoming AFCON in Equatorial Guinea.

“The basis of my urgency was that the player is being prejudiced by sitting on the sidelines,” said Mapheta.

“There is Afcon coming and if you know he is a good candidate for selection, it seems to us that the club is slowly destroying the young man's career by not putting him out for selection.”

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
